Revolving, undulating hips
Suggestively a finger licks
She promises with arching back
Her sexuality for sale
Lewd shouts cry hunger pounding fists
Keep tempo as their mouths devour
Their raging eyes remove from her
The meager g-string, bra she wore
A lustful audience tonight
Brings dollars, dollars on the floor
Her rent to pay, her child to feed
Away from here, away from sex
Before this night the woman sleeps
She silent prays to keep her child
From knowledge that their lives depend
On sexuality for sale

Thank you so much. It isn’t a truly pleasant poem, at least the subject matter isn’t all that pleasant, but I hoped to show the woman as being human and having worth, having fears just like the rest of us.

I like the double perspective of this – the viewers sexual take and the detachment of the girl. Nicely handled.

I read your poem on what is life at dreamfashion’s blog, it was a coruscating kaleidoscope of human existence, a question everyone has different definitions, it really dazzled me💜💜💜 . WHAT IS LIFE????

Many, many years ago I worked one summer as a “Door Man/Bouncer” for 2 Strip Clubs (one owner).I learned way back then that there were a lot of single Mom’s doing this work in an effort to bring in enough money to house and feed her children and herself without a man around to help with the finances. A woman can earn more in one evening of “stripping” than they can working 40 hours in a factory. They are just people trying to make a living, everyone, is just ‘people’. I am going to reblog this article for you.

How beautiful it is to read poetry that resembles reality of things sometimes. 💝
